Dubai is one of the world’s most exciting cities and tourism is at the heart of its future. It is fast becoming the city’s main economic driver, with the Dubai Government focused on ensuring the rapid growth of the tourism industry. The speed of this growth and the diversity of its offering means that more and more people are being employed in interesting positions, many of which have not existed until now. It also means that there is an increasing number of new and exciting careers available to you, and the opportunity to play a prominent role in Dubai’s future. Our Tourism courses expose students to a range of tourism services and skills. It will provide students with a sound knowledge of both office and field-based industry functions and the confidence to apply them in the real world. The practical focus of this course will open doors to the industry's top employers and ensure a rewarding career.

The one-year Certificate programme explores Visitor Information, Impacts of Tourism, Travel Agency Operations, Guiding and various other topics designed to ensure that graduates excel in the industry.

Upon completion, students can continue their studies with our Diploma in Tourism Management for an additional year to build on these skills to give graduates all the tools required to master all the facets of Tourism Management.

Course Structure

YEAR ONE | Certificate in Tourism (Level 4)

During one-year Certificate in Tourism programme students study the following subjects core units which provide the fundamental business and academic skills required in any tourism related position:

  • Cultural Awareness and Workplace Communication
  • International Computer Driving License (Base)
  • Business Fundamentals
  • Service Skills Fundamentals
  • Marketing
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
  • Sustainability
  • Financial Accounting and Control

Tourism students will also study specialised units giving them a broad knowledge about the key components of the tourism sector as well concrete skills to make them work ready. The units are:

  • Introduction to the Tourism Industry
  • Preparing for a career in Tourism
  • Introduction to the Hospitality Industry (short)
  • Global Destinations
  • Introduction to the Events Industry (short)
  • Travel Agency Operations
  • Tour Guiding
  • Industry Internship

YEAR TWO | Diploma in Tourism Management (Level 5)

Upon successful completion of the certificate programme, students can choose to progress to the Diploma in Tourism Management programme, which requires an additional year of study. The Diploma focuses on teaching students more supervisory, teamwork and leadership skills. You will also have the opportunity to tailor your studies to suit your career aspirations through a selection of option modules and complete a longer industry internship placement of at least 4 months.

Students study the following subjects during the Diploma Of Tourism Management:

  • Supervising and Leading a Team
  • Digital Marketing
  • Event Tourism
  • Changing Patterns of Tourism
  • Industry Internship

YEAR THREE | Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management (Level 6)

YEAR FOUR | BA (HONS) in Tourism Management

Please note that Advanced Diploma graduates can progress to our BA (HONS) if they have successfully completed the 3 year Advanced Diploma programme. To read more click here.

Please note:

*Progression each year is only available to students who have met the required GPA requirements of 2.5.

*On successful completion of all of the qualification level requirements, certificates and diplomas will be issued within 8 weeks.

*There is a minimum number of students required to run this programme.
