EVENT MANAGEMENT

The key to a successful event is organization, planning, and execution. Our focus lies in empowering you in these areas. With the range of jobs and career prospects on offer in Dubai, a qualification from DCT will present you with exciting career prospects.

Given Dubai's unprecedented growth, the city has evolved into an epicenter for high-profile events. In 2015, Dubai hosted 544 unique entertainment events*, ranging from cultural shows, art events, festivals, and concerts to spectator sports events. Business conventions, trade conferences and DWTC events contributed 3.1% to Dubai's GDP and supported 80,460 jobs in 2015**.

The one-year Certificate programme combines theory and practical education to cover topics such as Event Registration, Event Staging Coordination, Event Venue and Site Selection, and Meeting Organisation and Management among others.

Upon completion, students can continue their studies with our Diploma in Events Management for an additional year to build on these skills to give graduates all the tools required to master all the facets of Events Management.

Course Structure

YEAR ONE | Certificate in Events (Level 4)

During the one-year Certificate in Events programme students study the following subjects as core units which provide the fundamental business and academic skills required in any Events related position:

  • Cultural Awareness and Workplace Communication
  • International Computer Driving License (ICDL)
  • Business Fundamentals
  • Service Skills Fundamentals
  • Financial Accounting and Control
  • Sustainability

Event students will also study specialised units providing them with tailored content that prepares them for working within Dubai’s events industry. The units are:

  • Introduction to Events
  • Preparing for a career in Events
  • MICE
  • Introduction to the Tourism Industry (short)
  • Event Site Selection 
  • Event Operations
  • Events Capstone Project
  • Industry Internship

YEAR TWO | Diploma in Events Management (Level 5)

Upon successful completion of the certificate programme, students can choose to progress to the Diploma in Events Management programme, which requires an additional year of study. The Diploma focuses on teaching students more supervisory, teamwork and leadership skills. You will also have the opportunity to tailor your studies to suit your career aspirations through a selection of option modules and complete a longer industry internship placement of at least 4 months.

  • Digital Marketing
  • Supervising and Leading a Team
  • Business Communication
  • Industry Internship

YEAR THREE | Advanced Diploma in Events Management (Level 6)

YEAR FOUR | BA (HONS) in Events Management

Please note that Advanced Diploma graduates can progress to our BA (HONS) if they have successfully completed the 3 year Advanced Diploma. To read more click here.

Please note:

*Progression each year is only available to students who have met the required GPA requirements of 2.5.

*On successful completion of all of the qualification level requirements, certificates and diplomas will be issued within 8 weeks.

*There is a minimum number of students required to run this programme.
